Amesbury Town Band can trace its history back to the 1860s and, except for a couple of world wars, has been a regular provider of music at local community events held within our small, but historic, Wiltshire town and its surrounding countryside. We are a band that plays just for pleasure of playing brass band music. We play at fetes, fairs, concerts and service dinners. Aiming to provide a comprehensive variety of music, ideal for such functions, including light orchestral pieces, music from the stage, marches and musical standards. Our musicians are all local enthusiasts from various walks of life, many of them learning their skills with the Band. Its current strength is approximately 30 and includes a thriving learners' section. New members of any age or musical ability are always welcome. We can provide instruments and tuition free to members. Our only qualification is that you enjoy playing music. For more information on the Band please contact the Band's Secretary, Ray Brotherton. Telephone: 01722 414299, Email or Just come along to one of our rehearsals at: Wednesdays, 7.30 - 9.30 pm. Our fees are very modest, designed primarily to cover expenses, as we are a non-profit making organization. Having said that, we pride ourselves in providing a professional performance that always enhances any event. Please contact the Band Secretary to find out about our Playing Fees. All players are warmly welcomed, but we urgently need a few more solo cornets to help out existing players. Contact our secretary for more details. If you're on holiday, or working locally for a short time, and want to keep your lip in, just come along and have a blow. Our Small Group Sometimes we can provide a small group of players for an event, when the main band would be inappropriate. Contact the secretary for more information. Click here for a view: |
