Amesbury Town Band 's new Musical Director, Clive Burroughs, takes up the baton for his first official engagement - The Battle of Britain Dinner at the WOs' & Sgts' Mess, Boscombe Down on Friday 14 September 2007. The evening was marked by a spirited rendition of "Out of the Blue" by the band's male voice choir. Clive started playing the cornet at the age of 10. His professional musical career includes 17 years service with the Blues and Royals Regiment of the Household Cavalry, where he reached the rank of Corporal of Horse and held the appointment of Trumpet Major, responsible for the fanfares at State and Public occasions. Since leaving the Army he has played with all the major local bands including Woodfalls, Bournemouth Concert Brass, Southampton Central and Hyde. Clive is married with two daughters. His wife plays cornet with Verwood Concert Brass and his girls have just started to learn the cornet.
